Retro, in musical terms, is most often used to describe contemporary music which contains stylistic elements which are reminiscent of the past (e.g. The Pipettes, The Raveonettes). Some users also use the term literally, to describe acts which are quintisentially associated with an older era (e.g. Frank Sinatra, Edith Piaf).
